EVER WONDERED WHAT ITS LIKE TO SPEND THE
NITE ON A DESERT ISLAND?
Hicacotours has come up with a brand new tour and only done by us in Caye
Caulker. This is the manatee tour, but with a lot more fun added. The
tour leaves the island at 10:30 am. We travel winding passageways through
mangrove islands on the way to the manatee site (45 minutes). Sometimes
we have to have patience because they are not always waiting for us. We
have an extra day so we are not in a rush and have more time than the
regular tour to spend at this site. After the manatees
we head for Goffs Caye where the fun begins. More winding rivers
on the way. On arrival, about 12-1 pm, you will be briefed on the safety
procedures of the island. Since it is still early and the sun is still
blazing you can join our guide for a snorkeling tour. Your guide will
take you to the coral wall that drops off into the deep blue water so
you get to see what the divers see.
T his
island, with its13 coconut trees and about 200 feet in diameter,
is situated on top of the barrier reef so snorkeling is just a few steps
off the white sandy beach in these crystal clear waters. Corals and fishes
are plentiful. The water surrounding the island is only a few feet deep
and is great for non-swimmers and kids just love making sand castles on
the beach.
Kick back on the beach and catch some rays, go shell searching, play
volleyball or Badminton, which is set up in the shallow water or you can
toss our Frisbee around.
Happy hour starts at 4 pm with our kick ass
rum punch. All you can drink. Dinner, which consists of grilled
lobster, conch, fish, or chicken and steamed veggies cooked in our special
sauce over rice, will be served buffet style all you can eat while watching
the sunset. No better place to view sunsets or sunrise and have waves
crashing at your feet.
Y ea
we got music and we crank it up at twilight. As darkness sets in we light
the bonfire and our solar powered path lights light up and you can sit
around the fire have more punch, listen to the music, dance, snorkel,
go on the dock and stargaze or fish off the dock. Bedtime is anytime.
Sunrise is a must and have your cameras. Fresh coffee and rolls will be
ready. Take an early morning swim if you like. At about 10am we start
packing up to head back to Caye Caulker for another snorkel stop at Shark
Ray Village for some incredible snorkeling. A TRIP TO REMEMBER.
