Hol Chan, Mayan for little channel, is a Marine Park 25 minutes from Caye
Caulker. Visitors say it is like swimming in an aquarium, and they are right.
You are surrounded by many species of fishes in this park.
The
marine life at this park is so plentiful that in this one spot you will see almost
everything there is to see.You will be eye to eye with huge groupers, jacks, snappers
and many more colorful fishes. You don't even have to get in the water to see
fishes. The fishes come up to the boat for their daily feeding. Hol Chan is famous
for it's deep channel, which is created by two magnificent coral walls rising
up from the channel floor to a few feet from the surface, creating walls approximately
25 feet high filled with colourful marine life darting in and out of this magnificent
mountain of corals. Keep an eye out for a school of eagle rays that are usually
found cruising below. If you have good lungs you can dive down to a cave in the
wall about 15 feet deep and 8 feet in length and dive through to check out the
marine life inside. Dont be surprised to find huge black and nassau groupers
and moray eels inside.
Our
guides give you a tour of both sides of the wall and into the shallower section
of the park for a spectacular tour while pointing out all the hidden creatures
that you would normally miss like lobsters, morays, octopus, crabs and more.
Your friend snorkel and you want to dive, but you want to do something
together. This is the trip, our custom snorkel and dive tour. They can snorkel
while you dive the channel. This is a great dive to spot huge morays and more
fish than any other dive around here. Hang with schools of fish that the snorkelers
have to dive down to see. Dive through the cave and be eye to eye with the friendly
groupers inside, maybe even pet them. This is also a good dive if you have not
done a dive in awhile. Marine life is so plentiful at the bottom you will forget
that you are only at 30 feet. We're the only one that do this combo dive snorkel
on Caye Caulker. The depth at the park starts off at 4 feet and its deepest point
is 30 feet.
