Similar to Shark-Ray Alley. This spot also
attracts plenty of nurse sharks and southern stingrays. A two minute boat

This is a deeper spot, but very beautiful.
For not very experienced swimmers we provide life
jackets so that you will feel comfortable in this deep water. Depth is about
to 15 to 20 feet. The coral formation in this spot is very different than
the other coral garden on the Hol Chan Marine Park
tour. Here we have boulder like coral clustered together creating massive
mountains of coral rising up from the white sandy bottom, some of them almost
extending out of the water creating what us locals call dry patches. These
mountains are scattered over a very large area creating a maze of coral
and giving you a feeling of snorkeling through huge colorful canyons of
coral mountains. Marine life is plentiful. At this coral garden it is mostly
smaller colorful fish and tons of soft corals branching off the coral clusters.
These soft corals provide shelters and homes for all the smaller
marine life. There is also a cluster that forms a dry patch that we call
barracuda rock because we can usually find a school of them cruising around
that rock. Barracudas do not attack. Just for your information. If you are
a free diver this is the spot to test your lungs and peek under these mountains
to see if you can spot eels, lobsters, crabs or maybe even an octopus if
you are lucky. This is a huge area so don't expect to see it all. We are
on a tour of three hours so time is limited at each spot. Still you will
see enough and be satisfied. |

This is the last spot on this tour. Again
we have different coral types and also another deep spot. Here the coral
forms a wall dropping gradually until it reaches 30 feet. Here
we start in a shallow area about 6 feet and slowly snorkel out until we
get to the wall. We cruise along the wall until we are close to the waves
breaking on the reef. Here at the edge of the reef we find huge patches
of elkhorn and staghorn corals. The waves in this area are a little big
so expect to bob up and down while viewing the corals. There is no danger
however. It is worth the spectacular view, but when it is too rough we can't
access this spot. After bobbing in the waves we head into the shallower
spots on top of the wall, and less waves, on the way back to the boat. In
this shallower area it is about 4 to 6 feet in depth. You can spot different
kind of marine life and because it is shallow and you will be able to peek
under the corals and look for lobsters, crabs, shrimps and many more tiny
creature that live inside these coral. Once back near the boat you can explore
the surrounding corals near the boat. |
